Matt has been with Redline for 4 weeks now and has been busy completing training for his new role and getting to know some of our existing customers better. Check out our Q + A session with Matt below!
How have you found settling into your new environment?
It’s a big change moving away from a role I was in for the best part of 6 years, but there is an amazing team at Redline who are making me feel very welcome. I am really enjoying the family run business feel mixed with the scalability and professionalism to provide an outstanding service to our customers.
Tell us a bit about your previous role at 9 Group…
I started out as a Customer Service Adviser at the start of 2014, beginning with supporting Mobile customers. As time went on and other team members left, I grew my knowledge to look after inbound call management and I was promoted to Team leader in January 2016. From then on, I was tasked with looking after a range of products including Mobile, Inbound, Broadband and VOIP. As my role developed, I became solely focused on the progression of the Mobile product, delivering accreditations and training sessions for our partners to sell to their customers. I ended up being introduced to customers new starters affectionately as “Mobile Matt”!
So you knew Redline quite well before you joined the team, hopefully your opinion hasn’t changed! What are you looking forward to most about your new role?
I have known Colin and Ed since I started at 9 Group and I can honestly say I have never heard anyone say a bad word about Redline. Once I told 9 that I was joining Redline, I think every person said the same 7 words “they’re great people, you’ll enjoy it there”, so far so good!
I am looking forward to challenging myself and seeing a different side to Telecoms. Without sounding too clichéd, I want to push myself and see what we can achieve together.
What does life outside the office involve then?
I am getting married in August next year which I’m absolutely buzzing about so it’s mainly counting down to the big day. I love watching football, I am a long suffering Birmingham City fan and try to get up to St Andrews as often as I can to watch them play. If Blues aren’t playing I tend to watch whatever football is on the TV but my Fiancé is not a big fan of me watching football 24/7. You’d think she’d have gotten used to it since we’ve been together for nearly 8 seasons… I mean years…
Finally, it’s time to bring a smile to our customers face. Tell us your best joke, no pressure!
I couldn’t just pick one!
I rang up British Telecom and said “I want to report a nuisance caller” He said: “Oh not you again”.
Crime in multi-story car parks, it’s wrong on so many levels.
Big fan of Tim Vine!
